Sons of Anarchy Clubhouse Edition – Cigar Review

SOA Cigar 2
Up for review is the Sons of Anarchy Clubhouse Edition cigar which has SAMCRO written across the band.  Under that massive band is a nice looking wrapper leaf and the cigar has a perfect draw after cutting.  Once lit up, it has a rich, chewy earth and leather flavor with some sweet chocolate in there too.  The construction was perfect.  Overall, this cigar tasted great and the price is fair.  We highly recommend it!

IamDarren: Very nice looking wrapper on this stick (despite being 75% covered up by the band). Nice pack, slight box press.
7:47 PM
IamDarren: decided to go ahead and remove the band. Came off easily. The rest of the cigar looks excellent. Clipped the cap and have a perfect draw. Getting oak, leather, and a slight sweetness on the cold draw.
7:47 PM
Terry1: Yeah the band is going to come off pretty quick. Nice barnyard smell to the wrapper. Got a good draw with a rich earth and chocolate note. Ready to light up.
7:48 PM
IamDarren: ok. lets get this puppy started.
7:48 PM
IamDarren: Whoa, lit easy with a ton of smoke. Explosion of flavor.
7:49 PM
IamDarren: Rich, lots of earth blended with chocolate and coffee on the finish. Great flavor to start!
7:53 PM
Terry1: Very good start. Lot’s of different flavors, earth, spice in the sinus, leather, chocolate, mild sweetness. It takes a couple of puffs to get a good amount of smoke for mine. I like the initial flavors.
7:54 PM
IamDarren: the spice was just in the sinus at first but it seems to be building up and I can taste it on my tongue now. Full bodied but well balanced so far.
7:55 PM
IamDarren: that chocolate note really coats the palate. Leaves a long semi-sweet finish that I like.
7:56 PM
Terry1: I agree. Starting to get that coffee note on the finish.
7:57 PM
IamDarren: this one must be fairly limited because CI is sold out except for fivers.
7:58 PM
Terry1: I wonder if they lost the license when the show ended.
7:58 PM
Terry1: That’s what happened to CAO Sopranos.
8:01 PM
IamDarren: Could be. I looked up the Chapel edition which is more expensive and they had a disclaimer that they ran out but due to overwhelming demand they got another shipment. I would bet these won’t be available forever.
8:01 PM
Terry1: I’m getting tired of puffing several times to get this cigar going. I only set it down for 15 seconds and it acts like it went out. Are you having this issue?
8:02 PM
IamDarren: Mine is still producing lots of resting smoke and a good amount on the draw as well.
8:03 PM
IamDarren: Thinking about tapping off my one inch ash, but it looks firm so I may hold out.
8:04 PM
IamDarren: since I’m really liking this one I’m probably not letting it rest enough but it is not heating up one bit
8:05 PM
Terry1: Maybe mine is a little wet. I kind of doubt it because I smoke other cigars out of the same humidor and haven’t notice any problems. I’ll try smoking faster. The cigar does have some good rich flavors.
8:08 PM
IamDarren: you may be right. I purposely let it rest longer and I had to double draw to get it smoking good again. So it may try to go out.
8:08 PM
IamDarren: i just love these cigars that are full of flavor and rich without being too strong and overpowering.
8:08 PM
Terry1: I usually don’t pick up a chocolate note on cigars. I eat a lot of chocolate but it’s not a flavor I get from cigars. I’m getting it on this cigar. Very tasty.
8:10 PM
IamDarren: and i also really like the way it coats the palate and leaves that chewy rich finish. Just my kind of cigar i guess
8:11 PM
Terry1: It really is a rich cigar. Burn is a little wavy but no issues yet. Nice solid ash.
8:13 PM
Terry1: That box these come in is pretty cool. I wish I paid more attention I would have liked to have bought one.
8:14 PM
IamDarren: Agreed, i love it when they can be repurposed.
8:15 PM
IamDarren: i have a pile of ammo that would go great in one
8:16 PM
Terry1: That would be a perfect use for that box.
8:19 PM
IamDarren: starting to pick up more strength in the second third. Its more in the gut then it is on the palate though. Flavors are still great.
8:21 PM
Terry1: Yeah I’m starting to feel it a little. With this rich of flavors the strength is bound to be there.
8:25 PM
IamDarren: and I’m salivating a lot more. its a sure sign of hidden strength. But you are right, its almost impossible to have such rich flavors without the strength creeping up.
8:27 PM
Terry1: Haven’t noticed any transitions but the flavors that this cigar is producing are really nice. I’ll be happy if it stays the same to the end.
8:29 PM
IamDarren: yeah, when you have a candybar stick like this one you want every bite (puff) to be ass good as the last. One of the reasons i like the Diesel Unlimited so much. It always taste the same… really good. Flavor always trumps complexity.
8:30 PM
Terry1: Lol, good point.
8:34 PM
IamDarren: anything new and exciting going on your way.
8:35 PM
Terry1: Just installing a new laminate floor in the house. It’s been a lot of work. More than I expected. But the end is in sight.
8:36 PM
IamDarren: wow, you were starting that several weeks ago.
8:38 PM
IamDarren: i just cringe when it comes to doing most work on the house. Starts out as a small honey-do task and ends up being major.
8:39 PM
Terry1: Started around Valentines Day. The floor is done. Now I’m installing the transition molding and fixing the moldings I had to remove. I made the floor a little bigger than the existing floor so I had to move the carpet tacking strips and cut a couple of inches off the carpet to make it fit again.
8:40 PM
IamDarren: well its one of those things you only want to do once so it sounds like you are taking the time to do it right.
8:40 PM
Terry1: That’s what I tell the wife. I work slowly but it will be as close to perfect when I’m done.
8:42 PM
Terry1: About an inch left. Flavors are still great. The spice has mellowed some on mine. Strength is there but not as strong as I expected. Burn has been near perfect since about the halfway mark.
8:43 PM
IamDarren: same here, mine has mellowed a little also which was unexpected. Middle third was the strongest
8:47 PM
IamDarren: only about a half inch of smokable cigar left on mine. I can rate any time.
8:48 PM
Terry1: I can rate now.
8:51 PM
Terry1: Great cigar. Thanks for picking this one up Darren. Really enjoyed it. Easy one to recommend. I may have to pick up the fiver before they are gone.
8:51 PM
IamDarren: Another one i picked up on a whim when i had some other stuff in the cart, so i got lucky
