This AJ Fernandez cigar has a dark, almost black, wrapper with only very small veins. Looks great!
It is firm and evenly packed. After cutting the cigar it has a perfect draw. The pre-light construction could not be any better and I love the box pressed shape!
The smell is very pungent and earthy with a little sweetness. Reminds me of horseradish. The construction, look, and smell are all top notch. If the cigar smokes this good, it will be a treat!
The first third is very full bodied and full flavored right off the bat. It has a rich earthy coffee flavor with a tangy finish. It produces a ton of smoke and the dark gray ash holds on tight for over an inch. We are off to a good start!
The second third has very thick and buttery smoke. It has mellowed out a bit, but is still in the full bodied range. The delicious buttery earthy flavor has a spicy and tangy pepper finish. The burn is dead on even and the draw is fantastic.
It has a sweet buttery earthy flavor with hints of espresso and chocolate while retaining the spicy pepper finish. That buttery smoke allows for a long lasting, barely bitter, finish. The strength of this full bodied cigar is evident in the final third. This third was a fitting end to a great cigar.
Those that enjoy cigars such as the Diesel Unlimited will welcome the San Lotano Maduro into their arsenal. It features full bodied, full strength, and full flavored goodness with some complexities in the final third that will keep you interested. Take care not to smoke this cigar too fast or it will turn bitter on you! The construction and price were definitely the highlights of this cigar, but the good flavors were a close second. I highly recommend this budget premium to all full bodied cigar lovers!
