Up for review is the Rocky Patel Decade Cameroon. This Cameroon wrapped cigar is a new spin on the wildly popular Decade line. The wrapper leaf is very delicate on it and has a few visible flaws. After cutting it the draw is just about perfect. Once lit up, it has a mix of creamy, earthy, and cedar flavors with some pepper. It’s a bold start that mellows out later as the pepper flavor fades and the cigar gets more earthy. The construction was solid on both sticks. Overall, this an expensive cigar that has some stiff competition in this price range. It’s very good with enjoyable flavors and we enjoyed the transitions. Not the best value out there, but definitely worth trying!

StraightUpCigars – Matt: My Decade has a very delicate wrapper – I noticed a couple minor flaws in it. We’ll see if it holds up. Peppery smell to the wrapper. Great draw!
Terry1: First of all I love the bands. The orange foil lettering on black I think looks classy. Draw is about perfect on mine with a cedar note. Ready to light. Darren where are you?
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Lighting up!
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Very bold start. Leathery and woody with some pepper on the finish.
Terry1: Easy draw with plenty of creamy smoke to enjoy. Initial puffs have a sweet tobacco note, cedar, earth and some pepper. Nice start.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Mine’s getting sweeter with each puff, getting the sweet creamy flavor you mentioned.
Terry1: Flavors are starting bold. Pepper is increasing with each puff along with that sweetness. Getting a coffee and earth note on the finish. Burn is near perfect.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: It’s got a real dry smoke. Leaving me thirsty.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: They’re a little pricey, about $10 ea.
Terry1: That price is on the upper end of what I’ll spend on a cigar. So far I’m liking it. Pepper has faded some. Not near as strong as the start.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Same here. I’d gladly spend it at a B&M where the cheapies are $6, but it’s harder to pull the trigger online where the options are endless
Terry1: Yeah I’d have to see a good sale before I’d buy these over the regular Decade. The Decade is one of my favorite cigars and this one is good but I still prefer the Decade.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: It’s been a long time since I’ve had the Decade, I should dig one out.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: I’m getting a ton of cedar flavor right now. Overall it’s really mellowed though.
Terry1: Plenty of smoke which is nice. Pepper and sweetness are almost gone on mine. Turning more earthy. It feels like this cigar is smoking fast. Not sure if it’s the size or if I’m puffing too often.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Yeah, it’s looking like a 45 minute smoke. Not too bad for a little robusto, but not great either.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: The construction is solid on mine. Drawing great and burning straight
Terry1: Same here. Bands peeled off cleanly. I’m always amazed how just changing the wrapper can change the whole cigar. You wouldn’t think one leaf would do that.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: It’s not nearly as dry as it was. Really enjoying this one right now.
Terry1: I am enjoying this too. A mild sweetness has come back in the final third. Ending well for me. Starting to feel a tinge of strength.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Good point, I feel it too.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: We’re past the 45 minute mark and I still have a half an inch left. Flavors are in full force. Getting a sharp bitterness, but it’s not unpleasant.
Terry1: Sadly I’m about done here. I was hoping for an hour but I fell short. Flavors in the final third were very good. Just enough sweetness to balance out the earthiness. Enjoyed the Decade Cameroon. I’m still struggling with the price. I can rate when you are ready.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Ratings coming.
StraightUpCigars – Matt: I liked the flavor a lot and the construction was solid too. It’s really a good cigar, but the price is up there. I can think of several cigars I’d rather buy at this price, but this one isn’t a bad choice.
Terry1: Good cigar. Better if you can afford to buy a box. Flavors were good. Nice transition after the first third. Solid construction. I enjoyed this cigar and will be buying more. Easy one to recommend.
