Perdomo Alabao – Cigar Review

This week’s group review is of the Perdomo Alabao.  These are very affordable sticks selling for just a couple of bucks online.  They look and smell excellent, very nice for the price.  With high hopes, we lit them up. We were immediately impressed with the flavors.  In past experience, Perdomo cigars were sometimes to bland for us.  This one is a whole ‘nother story.  Tons of flavor up front: sweet earth and cream with a spicy finish.  The cigar ended just as well, complex smoke for being mild bodied.  All three of us found the Perdomo Alabao to be one hell of a bargain.  It comes highly recommended!

7:29 PM
Terry1: I’m ready with the Alabao. I’ve been reading up on this cigar. Sounds promising.

7:33 PM
Terry1: You can really feel the oils on the wrapper. Nice barnyard smell on the wrapper. The draw is a little snug.

7:35 PM
IamDarren: yeah, i get a sweet and spicy note from smelling the wrapper. Nice.

7:35 PM
StraightUpCigars: This is a nice looking cigar. Has an excellent sweet smell, looks good. Draw is good after cutting. I am ready to give it a light.

7:36 PM
IamDarren: ready here as well, draw is perfect.

7:37 PM
StraightUpCigars: Nice sweet and creamy smoke with some spice on the finish. Really good first few puffs.

7:38 PM
IamDarren: great flavor up front, agreed, sweet and creamy. Some earth and nuts as well. Nice spice zing on the finish.

7:39 PM
IamDarren: sweetness is taking on a caramel flavor

7:40 PM
Terry1: Good start. Lots of creamy smoke. I like the sweetness. I get the earth and nuts as well. Some spice in the sinus

7:40 PM
IamDarren: medium bodied for me

7:41 PM
IamDarren: getting a lot of zing on the finsih, almost like the spice is mixing with some citrus.

7:43 PM
Terry1: I get that zing too. I’ll be happy if the cigar stays like this for a while. I’m really liking the flavors. Nice balance between the sweet and the spice.

7:43 PM
StraightUpCigars: Medium body here too. Definitely no lack of flavor

7:44 PM
IamDarren: watch the ash, mine just flaked off.

7:47 PM
IamDarren: if this thing keeps going like this i will have to get more. For being medium bodied the flavor is great.

7:48 PM
StraightUpCigars: This is definitely one of the most flavorful perdomo’s. Good stuff

7:48 PM
Terry1: I was thinking the same thing. I can’t believe this is $4-$5 cigar. Perdomo did a great job.

7:52 PM
Terry1: Wow, looks like you can get a box for around $50 on the auction site.

7:54 PM
IamDarren: i was just looking on famous, they have the robusto sampler for 19 bucks. I got this fiver on the bid site for like 14 or 15 i think.

7:54 PM
StraightUpCigars: Wow, crazy deals. Easily worth it.

7:56 PM
IamDarren: its funny, they list it on their site as the Perdomo Alabao. But they don’t put their name on the band since its an exclusive. I guess Famous figures they will get more sales if people know its from Perdomo.

7:56 PM
IamDarren: the spice on mine has actually faded, its even more creamy now.

7:59 PM
StraightUpCigars: Mine has mellowed too. Not anything to complain about. Even burn, good draw, excellent flavor. This is a good one.

8:00 PM
IamDarren: looks like you can pick up a fiver of this toro right now on cigarauctioneer for 15 bucks. Ends in 5 min. if anyones interested.

8:00 PM
Terry1: Spice is fading on mine too. I’m getting more of the roasted nuts and sweetness. My ash fell off without warning.

8:07 PM
IamDarren: i’m about a half inch from the band. It seems to be picking up some complexity. Still not much spice but the citrus flavor is now more prevalant. Its not bitter at all and is very refreshing.

8:08 PM
StraightUpCigars: Mine is very smooth too. This is more of what I would expect from a Perdomo.

8:08 PM
IamDarren: i think im getting a hint of coffee up front but its immediately being washed over by the sweet citrus flavor.

8:09 PM
IamDarren: band came off wonderfully, just a tiny dab of glue came right off.

8:11 PM
StraightUpCigars: You are a little further along than me. This one is a bit strong, I can feel the nic kick.

8:11 PM
IamDarren: i ate a salad for supper, must be absorbing all the nicotine.

8:11 PM
Terry1: Mine came off easily too. I’m still getting that nutty note. I’m not detecting the citrus yet.

8:12 PM
Terry1: That’s an interesting comment. I had a salad too and I don’t feel any nicotine yet either.

8:13 PM
IamDarren: my ash has been holding better, coupled with a perfect burn and great draw the construction could not be better.

8:14 PM
IamDarren: just noticed the time, this one is burning a bit quick.

8:15 PM
StraightUpCigars: I ate coconut shrimp and a sandwich, I will note not to eat that before a cigar again  I did have salad for lunch, though?

8:22 PM
IamDarren: agreed, cigars are defenitely low in calories

8:23 PM
StraightUpCigars: I don’t know, some of the 6×60’s are pretty beefy…

8:23 PM
IamDarren: oh boy, this topic is heading down the wrong path again….

8:24 PM
StraightUpCigars: We have to atleast finish the cigar first

8:24 PM
IamDarren: just starting the last third and the citrus has almost faded out. Its now very sweet and creamy.

8:25 PM
StraightUpCigars: Mine is sweet and earthy with some espresso flavor. Maybe a bit of spice creeping back in.

8:25 PM
Terry1: My burn is near perfect. Nearing the final third and the spice on mine has picked up again. Still getting a lot of sweetness and earth. And I’m starting to feel the strength now.

8:26 PM
IamDarren: i just stood up… yep getting that nice relaxed feeling from the nicotine.

8:28 PM
IamDarren: ok, getting a little bit of espresso now as well. This sucker is good! No bitterness at all.

8:33 PM
IamDarren: nearing the nub now, its heating up a bit. Draw is getting loose.

8:33 PM
StraightUpCigars: My draw is a little loose too, but nothing bad. Burn is still dead even.

8:34 PM
IamDarren: im glad i got the toros. The robustos would probably only last a half hour.

8:34 PM
IamDarren: well maybe 45

8:35 PM
StraightUpCigars: These are a bit chunky too, ar they 52 RG?

8:35 PM
IamDarren: 6×54

8:35 PM
IamDarren: robustos are 5×54

8:36 PM
StraightUpCigars: That is a big cigar for just over an hour burn time

8:36 PM
IamDarren: i just can’t believe how sweet and creamy it is even at the nub.

8:36 PM
Terry1: My draw is still a little snug just like how it started but it’s smoking great. I’m really enjoying the flavors.

8:37 PM
IamDarren: its defenitely a “candy bar” stick.

8:37 PM
StraightUpCigars: Man it is getting cold out here, it is supposed to get below freezing tonight.

8:38 PM
Terry1: The shorter burn time might be because we are enjoying it so much. I know I’m smoking faster than I normally do. I’m trying to slow down and savor the last of this cigar but it’s hard to do.

8:39 PM
IamDarren: lol, yeah that is defenitely a factor for me. But hey, if its good and doesn’t heat up i’m gonna smoke it fast.

8:39 PM
Terry1: I’ve got a perfect evening here. 70 degrees.

8:40 PM
StraightUpCigars: Nice, that is perfect!

8:40 PM
IamDarren: its cooling down here too, but still around 50. I hear there is a huge front moving through tonight. We are supposed to get rain for the next three days.

8:43 PM
StraightUpCigars: This was a good one.

8:43 PM
IamDarren: well, just started to burn my fingers. Going to put it down and move inside where its warm.
