Oro Rojo Royal Jamaica – Cigar Review

Oro Rojo Royal Jamaica Toro Review

I want to apologize right off the bat for not taking pictures without the outlandish cigar wrapper covering.  With that said, I’ll get to the review 😉

I removed the cigar’s garments and found an excellent smelling cigar.  I was overwhelmed by the floral smell w/ a base of oak and cedar.  The wrapper was oily with a light brown color and only 1 medium sized vein.

The construction was nice and squishy but firmly and evenly packed.

With a smaller cut it had a nice draw with just enough resistance to keep the cigar burning cool.

I lit it up and was floored by the burst of hazelnut and coffee.  As the cigar progressed it was booming with sweet honey and sugar flavor at about 1/2 an inch.  It was medium in body and slowly increased to medium-full.  The Royal Jamaica’s finish became increasingly sour and the sweet, coffee flavors subsided.  The predominant flavors from the 2nd 1/3rd on were peppery, spicy, and oaky with bold sour finish.  I tasted the coffee a couple of times later in the smoke, but it was not very distinct.

The construction was very good with a pretty even burn with a flaky brownish ash.

Overall, the Oro Rojo Royal Jamaica had some positives and some negatives.  Like all Atladis cigars, the construction was excellent and the wrapper nice.  One interesting thing to note is this cigar gave me a very strong buzz.  The flavor profile was complex for the first 15 minutes of the smoke, but the next hour really lost me.  This cigar may be worth checking out, but I would not recommend buying a box with trying one.
