Nirvana – Cigar Review

This week’s group cigar review is of the Nirvana. The Nirvana cigar has a nice looking Cameroon wrapper, and seems to be well constructed and evenly packed. The draw is just about perfect after cutting. After lighting it up, we got a sweet creamy and nutty flavor with spice. The sweetness and spice were perfectly balanced so the cigar was sweet for some puffs, and spicy on the next. Overall, we really enjoyed the Nirvana’s flavor and the construction was solid. It’s on the pricey side, but we think this one is worth it.

7:38 PM
StraightUpCigars: Nice looking wrapper leaf, mine looks like it has a little plume on it. Great draw after cutting!
7:39 PM
IamDarren: Same here. Great construction. Love the smell of those Cameroon wrappers, kinda leathery and sweet. Nice medium draw after cutting.
7:40 PM
IamDarren: noticed after the clip that there is some maduro leaf in the filler
7:40 PM
StraightUpCigars: Yeah, there sure is. Just a little rright in the middle.
7:42 PM
IamDarren: might make for an interesting experience
7:43 PM
IamDarren: are you ready Terry?
7:43 PM
Terry1: Perfect draw on mine. Getting a funky pecan note. Great looking cigar. Ready to light!
7:43 PM
IamDarren: ok, lighting up
7:44 PM
StraightUpCigars: Right on par with what Terry just said, nutty and creamy flavor to start.
7:45 PM
IamDarren: agreed, very buttery and coating my palate well
7:47 PM
Terry1: First few puffs are good. Agree with the nuts and buttery finish. Also a pleasant spice note in the sinus. Producing lots of smoke.
7:47 PM
IamDarren: Just took a sip of Zafra rum and its pairing quite well
7:47 PM
StraightUpCigars: Nice!
7:47 PM
IamDarren:
7:49 PM
Terry1: I can see rum as a good pairing. There’s a vanilla sweetness in the background of the cigar.
7:49 PM
IamDarren: Im getting a little spice in the sinus but nothing overpowering. There is a hint of rich earthiness and molasses coming into the mix, just a hint here and there but it may be because of that funky filler leaf. But overall I like it.
7:49 PM
StraightUpCigars: I’m getting a fair amount of spice too, made me sneeze (it’s allergy season )
7:51 PM
IamDarren: I noticed this is a Drew Estate cigar. Whats the story? Is there any infusion on this one?
7:51 PM
IamDarren: This looks and smokes more like a premium
7:54 PM
StraightUpCigars: This is definitely smoking like a premium. I didn’t see anything that made me think it’s infused.
7:54 PM
Terry1: I don’t think it’s infused. Drew Estate blended it for Royal Gold. I’m thinking it’s the premium cigar division for Swisher. Who now owns Drew Estate. Makes you wonder if this cigar was a test run.
7:57 PM
Terry1: That pepper note is fading a little. Getting more of a creamy cedar note with a hint of sweetness. Ash may be a little loose. I just bumped my cigar and the half inch ash dropped off.
7:58 PM
IamDarren: Spice has increased a bit but just the right amount. Im liking the mix of nuts, spice, and sweetness right now. Just tapped off the ash in the tray.
7:59 PM
StraightUpCigars: Yeah, I’m REALLY digging the flavor right now. Off to a good start.
8:01 PM
IamDarren: great draw, lots of smoke, perfect burn line, great flavor, pairing great with the rum. Im thinking Nirvana might be the right word
8:02 PM
StraightUpCigars: No kidding.
8:02 PM
Terry1: Not sure if it’s nirvana for me but I am enjoying it.
8:03 PM
StraightUpCigars: These are pricey sticks, no price break on 5 packs and hardly one on a box. It pays to be Jonathon Drew.
8:04 PM
IamDarren: NO DOUBT, I have been looking on a Liga Privada deal ever since they came out. They sell out and then people pay OVER retail for them…. wtf?!?
8:04 PM
Terry1: I got these on sale for about 6 bucks each.
8:05 PM
IamDarren: so what is retail on these?
8:06 PM
Terry1: $47 for a five pack.
8:06 PM
IamDarren: geesh
8:07 PM
IamDarren: so 6 is a pretty good deal then
8:07 PM
StraightUpCigars: Yeah, that’s a super deal! Nice find and still a generous choice.
8:08 PM
IamDarren: agreed, very nice of you!
8:09 PM
Terry1: My pleasure! Getting a very nice sweetness. Compliments the nut and spice notes. Construction has been about perfect so far.
8:11 PM
Terry1: This was in last years cigar haul from the festival so I was able to smoke it before committing to the five pack. I thought it was worth trying.
8:11 PM
IamDarren: agreed, the spice and sweetness seem to trade off every few puffs. Im at the halfway mark. One of the easiest bands i have ever removed. Nice lettering on the underneath side.
