La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco – Cigar Review
La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco Review
This cigar was given to me by General Cigar Co.
The dark brown Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper with only one or two medium sized veins.
It is slightly spongy feeling with a sweet box pressed Obelisco shape. After carefully cutting the small cap the pre-light draw is great.
I love the sweet floral smell. The packaging is impressive and the unique shape is bound to get attention both in the humidor and at the bar. Time to smoke it!
Lighting this cigar takes some effort because the foot is a very large ring gauge. My samples tended to run on one side for a quarter inch until the burn stabilized. After the initial lighting issues, these cigars burn very evenly the rest of the way. The first third has a faintly sweet earthy base flavor with some spice on the finish.
The first ash holds on very tight well into the second third. The smoke is medium bodied and very buttery. I am really enjoying this cigar so far. It is sweet and earthy with some pepper creeping into the flavor profile. It still has that spicy finish also. Rum would compliment the sweetened spice of this cigar very well.
The excellent construction of this cigar is evident during the final third. The burn is dead even and the ash holds on very strong. I ashed the cigar for the second and last time in the final third. It is still medium bodied with a burst of earth and pepper during each puff while retaining that pleasant spicy finish. Total smoke time was roughly an hour.
The La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco is a very tasty treat, the smoke is medium bodied but packs a ton of flavor. The taste is not very complex, but is so good that it keeps me wanting more. I love the look, feel, and construction of this cigar. This cigar is the complete package and does not have to be limited to special occasions at this price. I highly recommend giving this a try, I know I will be getting more of them!
