Kristoff Cameroon – Cigar Review

kristoff-cameroon-cigar-2
Up for review is the Kristoff Cameroon cigar.  We’ve really liked the other Kristoff sticks, so we’re excited to try this one.  This cigar has a pigtail cap and mottled wrapper leaf.  The draw is good after cutting.  Once lit up, it is mild bodied with sweet and creamy with oak and some spice on the finish.  Also tasted a hint of mint.  The construction was perfect on all 3 cigars.  Overall, we loved the mild, but flavorful smoke.  It was really delicious and easily worth the price.  Highly recommended!

IamDarren: nice looking wrapper, very mottled. Some small veins.
7:48 PM
IamDarren: nice pigtail and shaggy foot
7:48 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Rough looking wrapper leaf and unique minty smell. Chocolate on the cold draw.
7:49 PM
IamDarren: im not getting much on the cold draw but my nose is stuffy today
7:49 PM
Terry1: I like cigars with pig tail caps but I don’t care for the closed foot. Draw is about right with notes of chocolate and maybe a berry. Quite nice.
7:50 PM
Terry1: Lighting up.
7:50 PM
IamDarren: i think im ready to light this log
7:51 PM
Terry1: The size is 6.5″ by 56rg.
7:52 PM
IamDarren: at least its not a 60 rg.
7:53 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Lit pretty easily.
7:54 PM
IamDarren: mine is starting off mellow. Sweet, very creamy, getting a minty spice note, and a hint of mocha or chocolate on the finish. Nice start.
7:56 PM
Terry1: Agree on the sweet and creamy start. Got some spice and chocolate. Good start.
7:56 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Real good mild start. Getting cedar, cream, mint, and chocolate.
7:59 PM
Terry1: Getting some of that cedar now.
8:00 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Tons of smoke from this honkin beast.
8:01 PM
IamDarren: yeah its a boheimeth, but so far pretty tasty
8:04 PM
IamDarren: well, im almost through the first 1/6. Not much to report. Maybe a little more spice creeping in.
8:05 PM
Terry1: Spice is building on mine. Still has that creamy sweetness and cedar. Lots of smoke with a perfect draw. Nice even burn.
8:05 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: I think I have some spice creeping in too.
8:08 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: SUC is about to re-enter Fakebook. I found an application that will automatically publish each review. We’ll see if it brings any traffic.
8:09 PM
IamDarren: Great, im glad you are still working to keep the site “fresh”
8:11 PM
IamDarren: With the impending doom i hope we can stir up some new followers
8:11 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Lol! That’s funny.
8:12 PM
IamDarren: nice article btw
8:13 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Thanks, you were the fire under my ass to get it done.
8:14 PM
IamDarren: Through the first third. Spice builds and then recedes. Still sweet and creamy. Mild to medium bodied.
8:16 PM
Terry1: Some of the sweetness has faded. Getting some of the mint mentioned. Agree with the spice building and fading. I have more of an oak note on the finish now.
8:18 PM
IamDarren: Nice relaxing cigar. I had about forgotten what a cameroon tastes like. You don’t see too many cigars that highlight it anymore.
8:18 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Love the mild body with a ton of flavor. Super enjoyable.
8:22 PM
IamDarren: agree. Good smoke production. Flavors aren’t strong but they really coat the palate.
8:23 PM
Terry1: I agree. The flavors are smooth and creamy. I like the change from the cigars that overwhelm you with the pepper. Really enjoyable.
8:26 PM
IamDarren: also enjoying the fall weather. I think it right around 70 outside with a little breeze.
8:27 PM
Terry1: Lucky you. Temp shot back up to the 90s here. Looks like the weekend will be nice.
8:27 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: We finally had a storm blow in and chase all that hot air away. Will be hot again this weekend.
8:28 PM
IamDarren: im crossing the halfway mark now. Getting more of that woody earthy flavor in the background.
8:30 PM
IamDarren: we have been getting rain and more rain lately. Luckily not too much here but just 10 miles up the road they got over 6 inches in the last couple days.
8:30 PM
IamDarren: fields that were just farmed look terrible. Hills are washed and rutted and the low areas are lakes.
8:31 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Damn, that’ll make it swampy real fast.
8:31 PM
IamDarren: luckily we have been converting to more minimum and no till so most of ours doesn’t look too bad.
8:32 PM
IamDarren: my cigar has just started loosing some sweetness and is picking up a slightly dry character.
8:35 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: The head of mine is awfully chewed up now. It’s just so hard to set this one down!
8:35 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: I agree, Darren. Sweetness is fading.
8:40 PM
IamDarren: been wanted to branch out and try some porter beer. Either of you guys have a good recommendation?
8:40 PM
Terry1: Nearing the end of the middle third. Sweetness is still there but had faded from what it was. Still smooth and creamy. Starting to feel the nicotine now. Burn is still even.
8:41 PM
Terry1: Can’t help you on beer. I’m not much of a beer drinker.
8:41 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Breckenridge Vanilla Porter. Awesome beer.
8:42 PM
IamDarren: ok great, thanks
8:42 PM
Terry1: Tried a pint of Amber Bock at the Budweiser factory. I have no idea what type of beer that was but it was very good.
8:43 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: After that one, try Left Hand Nitro Stout. Both should be easy to find in KS since they’re from CO.
8:44 PM
Terry1: Love the Breckenridge Colorado Whiskey. Brought a bottle of that one home.
8:44 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Nice! The Budweiser headquarters in STL, or somewhere else?
8:44 PM
Terry1: Fort Collins, Colorado
8:44 PM
IamDarren: I like stouts but they tend to be very heavy and i was hoping to find a porter that i would enjoy drinking on a more regular basis.
8:46 PM
Terry1: Had to tear and peel off the label. No damage to the wrapper.
8:46 PM
IamDarren: im getting to the point where i just can’t enjoy the american ale (piss water). Too light and bitter for my taste buds.
8:47 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Same here, I only drink them when I’m going to be drinking all day (floating or BBQing)
8:49 PM
IamDarren: i used to be the same way but since i don’t chug beer like i used to its just not as appealing. I would rather sip something with some more hearty complex flavor.
8:50 PM
IamDarren: guess i like my beer like i like my cigars
8:50 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: No kidding.
8:51 PM
IamDarren: i had to tear off my band as well, came off cleanly though.
8:52 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: I think you guys are further along than me, not even close to the band yet.
8:52 PM
IamDarren: in the last third finally, starting to get some acidity but still very smooth and enjoyable.
8:57 PM
Terry1: Just a hint of sweetness and spice in the final third. Mostly cedar and cream. Strength is now a solid medium for me and getting stronger.
8:58 PM
IamDarren: mine seems to be ramping up in strength as well
8:58 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: The sweetness is all but gone on mine. Rich and meaty medium/full smoke.
9:07 PM
IamDarren: finally nearing the end. Stronger, a little acidity. More of a bitter chocolate flavor on the finish. Still tasty.
9:08 PM
Terry1: I’m nearing the end too. Big Cigar! Getting tired of smoking it but still enjoying the flavors. It is getting strong.
9:13 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: Yeah, this one has left me with a little buzz. Still have some left, but am ready to rate whenever. You guys ready?
9:13 PM
Terry1: I’m ready to rate. Just set mine down.
9:13 PM
IamDarren: yep, im ready
9:14 PM
IamDarren: something to be said for the amount of flavor and consistency from such a large cigar. Well blended.
9:14 PM
Terry1: MSRP on these is around $9.
9:15 PM
IamDarren: yeah Kristoff are proud of their cigars. Can’t ever find a good deal on them.
9:16 PM
StraightUpCigars – Matt: I loved this cigar. Excellent flavor and easy to smoke. Extremely relaxing. Got our money’s worth with the huge vitola. Never turned bitter either.
9:17 PM
IamDarren: Agreed, very flavorful and consistent cigar. I would defenitely recommend it.
9:17 PM
Terry1: Next time I buy these I’d like to try a smaller size. Great tasting smooth cigar. Enjoyed the flavor. No construction issues. Kristoff has another winner with this one.
