Gurkha Park Avenue Torpedo
This cigar has one classy looking label. Don’t let that label fool you.
I was not terribly impressed with the construction or the wrapper.
The cigar was quite mishapen and the wrapper was all but sturdy.
When lit, it did not burn evenly and required two corrections.
The flavors were an odd mix of nutty spice and smooth creaminess.
I feel like the Park Avenue has some identity issues. It is stuck somewhere in between a smooth mild and peppery medium.
Overall, it’s buyer beware on this one. Not bad for the price, but far from great.

Finally, a cigar review about the Gurkha and someone didnt enjoy it. Something about these cigars turn me off.
I smoked a Park Ave Churchill on the way to work today. I think your review is spot on. The only personal comments are; the wrapper construction was perfect on my vitolo. Burn was good, definately a mild to medium bodied cigar with peppery and creaminess. Not bad if you’re paying $3 per stick.
Thanks for the comments, I agree that $3 a stick is reasonable for these smokes. The problem is Gurkha’s inflated MSRP’s cause everyone but the largest internet retailers to charge more for them.
I would agree with your review. The Park Avenue is not a box worthy purchase for me but if it shows up in a sampler or in a cigar trade I’m happy to smoke it. I like the nutty creamy notes I get and luckily for me the construction has never been an issue.
I have now had several of these, and the construction has been an issue on 2 out of 4. I agree Terry, pleasant flavors for a $3 smoke. Unfortunately they always leaving me wanting more.
I can’t tell you how many of these I have smoked and completely disagree. This has become my new “go-to” smoke. Of course, to each his own. But definitely try it.
i got just one in a 20 cigar sampler and it was the only one i really liked 2 other were ok but the Gurkha’s Park Avenue was WOW just what i am looking for
i can say it is a little loose but smoked fine start to finish i am waiting for a deal on just these
i wish based on liking the Gurkha’s Park Avenue i would know what else to try and avoid
Well, if you liked this one you like budget priced mild/medium cigars. I would try the Oliva O or G and give the Cuba Libre a shot.
Wow…..I read these reviews & was surprised. I bought some of these the first time in the begining of March. I let them sit a few weeks & lit one up. I found the taste right on as said in these reviews, nutty, creamy & peppery. I LOVE THAT. The peppery flavor reminded me of black pepper yet smooth with alittle nutty flavor. I am a finatic about keeping my humidor PERFECT (very frustrating but I got it right trying alot of different products) and the burn was also PERFECT. No relights after the cigar sat for a good 3-4 minutes I am a big fan of Don Pepin Garcia’s JJ series & also Ashton ESG. To my palet they also have that peppery flavor but not black pepper, more spicy if that makes sense. Anyway, I found these smokes great for an everyday cigar, and you can’t beat the price if you shop right. Happy smoking to all!!!!!
