Diesel Unlimited – Cigar Review

Diesel Unlimited Robusto Review

Up for review is the Diesel Unlimited which was released at IPCPR 2010 and is blended by A.J. Fernandez.

The Honduran wrapper is a very oily dark brown color with a few small, but visible, veins.

It is a bit  spongy feeling but this big ring gauge cigar is heavy!  I chose to punch it and the draw is perfect – not too tight or loose.

These cigars smell amazing!  A pungent earthy and sweet smell – you can smell them as soon as you remove the celophane!

I lit it up and it got off to a great start in the first third.  It has a buttery pepper flavor followed by a spicy and sweet finish that lingers.  The unlimited is full bodied right off the bat.  I can also tell that it packs a significant nicotine punch, so I  had batter be careful or it will kick my ass.

Surprisingly, the second third actually mellows out a bit but it remains full bodied.  The flavors are buttery and creamy with a really spicy and peppery finish.  The burn is staying very even, but the dark gray ash is actually falling off a bit early.  After dropping a couple of ash bombs in my lap, I began knocking the ashes off of my Unlimiteds off after every inch or so.  I have no explanation for this as the cigars seem perfectly rolled.

The final third is dominated by very rich earthy flavor and that spicy sweet finish is still here!  I also taste what I think is a rum flavor.  The construction has been perfect and it is producing a whole lot of sweet smelling smoke!  This cigar lasts for over an hour and a half – this is just the robusto size!

Overall, the Diesel Unlimited is a knockout cigar!  It produces a ton of fairly complex and rich smoke.  I think this will put the novice cigar enthusiast on his/her butt due to the strength and long lasting vitolas.  Take this cigar slow, if you smoke it too fast it will become bitter.  If you are looking for a full bodied and full flavored cigar for under $4, then you have found it!  I think this cigar is one of the best values on the market today!  That makes this one of my highest rated cigars yet.
