The Diesel Uncut is the latest in the line of Diesel cigars. This one has a good looking wrapper with a musty tobacco smell. The draw is perfect after cutting, even with the uncut foot. Once lit up, we were surprised at the mild start – creamy, earthy, and woody flavors. A pepper flavor did ramp up, but faded. The second third was very mellow with muted flavors and medium body. The final third finally gave us what we expect from a Diesel, full body smoke with a charred oak and dark chocolate flavor. Overall, the first and final thirds were good, but the middle portion of the cigar was a bore. Not what we would expect from a Diesel. We thought it was ok, but there are much better choices in the Diesel line.

StraightUpCigars: The diesel uncut has a good draw after cutting and a pungent, barnyard smell to the wrapper. Wrapper leaf is somewhat oily with a couple of large veins.
Terry1: The Diesel Uncut has a good draw even with the closed foot. Getting a musty note on the cold draw. Cigar looks good. Ready to light this up.
IamDarren: agreed, pretty good construction. Wrapper is a little veiny but has a nice sheen. Flavor is woody and musty with a slight hint of spice. Im ready.
IamDarren: I believe this one was in a custom sampler i ordered on my birthday so it has several months of aging.
StraightUpCigars: Wow, super creamy and woody start. Incredibly mild, but delicious… for now.
IamDarren: cigar is starting out medium with plenty of buttery smooth smoke. Getting a hint of that musty/earthy note, some sweetness, and a slight hint of spice.
Terry1: Got a blast of sweetness from the wrapper on that first puff but it quickly faded. After a few more puffs the pepper has made an appearance along with the wood and musty notes already mentioned. Burning and smoking great.
IamDarren: first couple draws were a little strong but it has quickly settled down to a very creamy, medium bodied cigar. Not what i had expected from a Diesel
IamDarren: it doe;0s have a long way to go though so i welcome a milder start
StraightUpCigars: Yeah, I’m sure it will come around, but shockingly mild at the moment.
IamDarren: starting to getting a slight herbal note along with a bit of spice in the last half of the draw. Very nice mix of flavor.
IamDarren: love the easy draw and great smoke production. Ash looks good and burn line is straight.
Terry1: I’m getting a lot of pepper spice on mine. Too much to retrohale for me. I agree with the herbal note and a bit of sweetness.
StraightUpCigars: The creamy flavors backed off and it’s all rich earth and wood on mine. No pepper or spice to speak of yet.
IamDarren: speaking of pepper, I tried one of those Rage’s. Holy Cow! Pepper explosion in my mouth. It was a good cigar but i thought i was smoking a Super full bodied Pepin.
IamDarren: i just retrohaled my cigar and there is only a slight hint of pepper.
IamDarren: ash is holding strong at 3/4″
IamDarren: So what did I miss guys?!? It seems like its been a year since i got to review a cigar.
Terry1: The roller must have added an extra leaf in mine. I’m struggling with the pepper, eyes watering, sneezing.
Terry1: Or else I’m just a whimp.
IamDarren: these have a lower price point so im guessing they probably aren’t as careful when they roll them.
StraightUpCigars: CAO Daydreamin, RYJ, Ramon Allones, etc. No real knockouts.
IamDarren: i see, you might remind me again at the end of the review so i can go in and take them out of the review tray
IamDarren: My bro in law had a birthday party over the weekend. I picked him out a bottle of Angels Envy bourbon. That might be the best bourbon i have ever had. They finish it in Port casks. Has a nice sweet fruity finish. super smooth.
StraightUpCigars: Damn, that sounds good.
Terry1: Got a bottle last year in Denver. It is great.
IamDarren: couldn’t make it to a b&m that had any so i found a great website that has everything. Was very reasonable price and shipped fast. www.b-21.com

Terry1: At last the pepper has subsided. I can breath again! Cigar has gotten sweeter and creamier. Maybe a touch of leather now.
StraightUpCigars: Construction is impressive on this. Hoping for a flavor change though. Mine is bringing some bitterness, would rather have that pepper you had Terry.
IamDarren: mine keeps mellowing. Slight earth up front which fades to an herbal note on the finish. Maybe a very slight bitterness on the finish. Good but teetering on being bland.
IamDarren: This toro retails for 4 bucks. Robusto is 3.50.
StraightUpCigars: Wow, that’s affordable. Never thought they’d release a bland Diesel, though. I would think this one will turn around.
IamDarren: they have this thing in the full category…. so im guessing it will change tword the end
IamDarren: well not much going on here, my butt has been planted in a tractor seat for the last month. We really need some rain. Last several days have been in the 80s and windy.
IamDarren: needs to cool down as well, turned on the porch light and the bugs are fogging.
StraightUpCigars: That’s odd, we’ve been chilly here for a couple of weeks. Breezy too, so no bugs.
Terry1: Mine is tasting good right now but it does seem to be mellowing.
Terry1: Burn on this cigar is almost perfect. Impressive for the price.
IamDarren: agreed, great construction so far
IamDarren: How is the new job treating you Matt?
StraightUpCigars: Your butt has been in a tractor seat, mine has been on the couch glued to the start of hockey season… I’m a freak. Really like my new job. It
StraightUpCigars: It’s so weird working with happy people, just such a different thing. Been working out at lunchh every day, which is good, but nothing is shedding yet.
IamDarren: lol, my wife got on a diet earlier this year so i sorta joined in. Quit drinking pop and cut back on my meal size. Lost 20 lbs. She was very jealous but she still lost 15.
Terry1: Wow 20 lbs! I’m lucky if I can drop 5.
IamDarren: was putting corn in the bins and somehow screwed up my shoulder. Have to go in friday for physical therapy. Guess i need to start lifing weights again.
StraightUpCigars: DAMN! Nice. I was hoping just working out would be enough, but it’s becoming apparent I’ll need to cut back on boozing to lose any. Samee here, Terry… just won’t come off.
IamDarren: i was 175 in high school and now im down to 185 so im happy. Will probably gain it all back between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Love that pie.
StraightUpCigars: Wow, 185. In my dreams… Well done.
Terry1: Yeah the holidays are killer. Wouldn’t be too bad but I have a lot of neighbors that know how to make cookies. My weakness.
StraightUpCigars: Speaking of gaining weight, I’ll be on vaca next week so I’ll miss the review. We’re going to the Smokies.
IamDarren: jealous, i need a vacation
StraightUpCigars: I’m sure you do. You guys need to get something on the calender. We’ve found that if we don’t plan it way in advance it will never happen.
IamDarren: lol, yeah thats the problem. We plan so much around the weather that its really hard to plan ahead.
IamDarren: got a camper and a jet ski now so summers are my best time to get away.
StraightUpCigars: You need to dig yourself a figure-8 jet-ski track on your property so you can romp around.
IamDarren: im through the halfway point now. Flavor is starting to pick up a little. Getting a little more richness now. Earthy up front with more of a dark chocolate note creeping in on the finish.
IamDarren: lol, k
IamDarren: we have a pond but its strictly for fishing.
Terry1: Into the second third. Flavors are still the same with some creamy slightly sweet earth notes and a black coffee bitterness on the finish. I’m starting to feel the strength. I’m thinking this will end up strong.
StraightUpCigars: I;m getting a dark chocolate flavor too, but is otherwise more of the same. Woody and earthy. Not sure the revolution is going to happen on this one.
StraightUpCigars: I think I am being a little overly critical though, I hold the Diesel line in very high esteem.
IamDarren: actually, the dark chocolate is ramping up fairly quickly now just in the last few puffs, with a hint of coffee on the finish
IamDarren: very quickly.. geesh. Now im getting more of a charred oak note instead of earth. Finish is slightly bitter.
StraightUpCigars: Feeling some strength too Terry. This one is a biggie.
Terry1: Yeah I’m hoping I can make it to the band. It’s deceiving thou. I don’t think the flavors suggest there’s much strength. Kind of sneaks up on you.
StraightUpCigars: There is a bit of a transition here at the end. A darker and richer flavor – coffee and chocolate with charred oak – still an unpleasant bitterness on the finish. If only that bitterness had been pepper or spice this whole time. I do like the flavor a lot at the moment though.
IamDarren: same here, last third is bringing a lot more flavor and strength. Agree on the flavors, more true to the diesel name at this point.
IamDarren: this toro is a whopper, second third was kinda lame. Im thinking that the robusto would be the way to go.
StraightUpCigars: I think you’re right. Cut that middle third out and this would have been golden.
Terry1: I agree too. Robusto might be a better smoke.
StraightUpCigars: I’m going to be setting mine down in a moment. How far are you guys in? Did I speed smoke?
IamDarren: down to the last inch. Really heating up. Getting more bitterness. I can finish and review any time.
Terry1: I’m about done. Made it past the band but my head is swimming now. I’m getting some more bitterness as well.
IamDarren: i guess i was looking for a lot more flavor, the last third started really well but turned bitter at the end.
StraightUpCigars: Overall, this one had a pleasant and mild start. The second third was a complete bore, but it rebounded in the final third. This one is a fair value, if only the entire cigar tasted like that final third!
IamDarren: price point is right on but i can get some of the other diesel blends for the same price on sale
Terry1: I agree. First third and last third were best. There are other Diesels I’d buy over this one.
