Cuba Libre – Cigar Review

 Cuba Libre Box Press Robusto
What a surprise!  This box pressed smoke came in a sampler and I did not know what to expect with it. I have now smoked several of these and this is an updated review.
The chocolate colored wrapper is smooth and slightly oily. It smells very spicy and pungent.
It is tighly, but evenly, packed and feels a bit spongy.  I have had very good luck punching these cigars.  The draw is excellent when punched.

The first third features s slightly sweet rum flavor with a lot of pepper and a spicy finish.  It’s ash is a lighter shade of gray.  It is mild bodied during the fist third.
The second third increases to mild/medium body smoke.  The flavors are primarily the same.  A slightly sweet toasty and peppery taste with a lingering spicy finish.
The final third is toasty and cedary with a lot of honey, pepper, and spice.  The spicy and buttery finish really coats your tongue.  It increases to medium body for the final third.

Overall, this is an amazing value smoke.  I really enjoy the fairly complex flavors that linger, but do not overpower.  You absolutely cannot beat the bang for your buck with these.  The construction is great every time and they produce gobs of smoke!  Not many people dislike them.  Try pairing it with an amber ale.
