Up for review is the Carlos Torano The Brick cigar. This is a fairly inexpensive cigar, so we’re hoping it’s a good value. This is a nice looking box-pressed cigar with a cedar smell and tight draw after cutting. Once lit up, this mild bodied cigar has a sweet, earthy, and coffee flavor. Those flavors remain largely unchanged for the entire smoke. The tight draw did eventually open up. Overall, this mild cigar is a good value. It’s not complex, but is enjoyable. Definitely worth a try!

StraightUpCigars: My Torano Brick is soft feeling and lightly packed. Draw is good, if a little loose. Mild tobacco smell from the wrapper
Terry1: Torano The Brick is a nice looking cigar. The wrapper has a pleasant cedar and barnyard smell to it. No major veins. The cigar is box pressed and after cutting the cap off, the draw is a little snug. I’m hoping it will open up as the cigar heats up. The cold has notes of cedar and walnuts for me. Lighting up.
StraightUpCigars: Nice mild creamy, nutty, and cedary start on mine. Tastes real good.
Terry1: Interesting the construction is so different with our cigars. Mine is well packed with a tighter draw.
StraightUpCigars: I was thinking the same thing, both ends of the spectrum. Was worried until I lit it up, I like the flavor.
Terry1: Draw is a challenge right now but I can smoke the cigar. Initial notes are cedar, coffee, mild sweetness and a sour or maybe a bitter note on the finish.
StraightUpCigars: After living like a pioneer for a couple of weeks, I’ve determined that I cannot function without AC. I think that may be the single modern amenity I can’t do without. All gets replaced tomorrow.
Terry1: Same here. I can take some heat during the day but having a hot house at night doesn’t work. Cigar is getting creamier. Very little pepper. Nothing distinctive in flavor right now.
Terry1: I carefully massaged and squeezed the box press edges and got the draw to open up. Getting a lot more smoke now. Cigar is burning well.
StraightUpCigars: Mine is burning evenly and smoking well – was worried that it might run with the loose pack but it’s fine.
StraightUpCigars: Really like the flavor. Seems to be getting a bit drier and i leaving me parhed.
Terry1: Over an inch in and I’m starting to get some pepper. Helps with the overall flavor profile. Still some mild sweetness, earth and black coffee. The flavors are getting better. Not noticing that initial sour note now.
Terry1: My cigar acts like it wants to go out. Takes several good puffs to get any smoke out of it and I’m only letting it sit for a very short time.
StraightUpCigars: That stinks. I guess I’d prefer my open draw over your tight one. As long as my cigar doesn’t heat up I should be good.
Terry1: Yeah it’s not very relaxing when you are struggling and fussing with the cigar.
Terry1: I am liking the flavor when I get it. Just looked these up. Didn’t know this was a value priced cigar. Around $3.50 on Famous.
StraightUpCigars: Starting to get some pepper now like you are. I’m really enjoying this one, didn’t come in with high hopes. It’s simple flavors and not complex, but they just work.
Terry1: I agree it’s a decent cigar with simple flavors. The draw is getting better as I cross the halfway point and it’s smoking better. Maybe I burned through the spot that was causing the tight draw.
Terry1: Getting more sweetness now. Burn has been near perfect which is surprising.
StraightUpCigars: Lol, that is surprising given the variety in filler leaf
StraightUpCigars: Computer is still updating… they sure know how to pick the right time to do it…
Terry1: You must be getting some major updates to have it last this long.
Terry1: You need to upgrade from that dial up modem.
StraightUpCigars: Lol, it’s some big Windows 10 security update. Finally finished.
Terry1: I’ll probably get the same update next time I power up.
StraightUpCigars: Probably. Will be at the worst moment.
StraightUpCigars: Flavor is more of the same. I’m surprised it has stayed this mild in body. Given the name and band, I was thinking this would be a fuller bodied smoke for some reason.
Terry1: Into the final third. Getting some nice sweetness, cream, mild cedar and mild pepper. I agree, I expected more body based on the name.
Terry1: Nearing the end. Cigar is heating up. Getting hot to even hold. No change in flavors. Still enjoyable. I’ll be putting this down soon. Starting to feel a touch of nicotine as I finish.
StraightUpCigars: Same here. I actually set it down a minute ago b/c it heated up too much. I have a minor buzz, I’d call this one low strength.
Terry1: I’m done. Ready to rate.
StraightUpCigars: I liked the simple but pleasant flavors. Price is unbeatable. I think it’s a great smoke to hand a first timer, or to light up while grilling/socializing.
Terry1: I agree, I liked this cigar once the draw opened up. The early struggle with the tight draw spoiled the smoking experience early on but it did get a lot better in the second half. Enough so that I would buy a five pack to try this one again. I’d recommend trying it.
