Camacho Triple Maduro – Cigar Review

Cigar: Camacho Triple Maduro 4.5×50
Wrapper: The cigar is wrapped in a nice Maduro wrapper leaf with only the tiniest of visible veins.  This is a nice wrapper!
Construction: The Triple Mad is firm to the touch and well packed, but still retains an easy draw after using a cutter.
Pre-light Notes: I love the smell of this thing!  Really sweet and chocolatey, earthy smell.  If this cigar smokes anywhere as nice as it looks/smells/feels, this is going to be a real treat.  Let’s see what the Triple Mad has in store for us.

 Flavor & Taste:
The first third gets off to a very good start.  It features a bold sweet, earthy, and peppery flavor.  It also has a lingering spicy finish that will knock your socks off!  The burn was not perfectly even on this third, but did not require any kind of correction.  The strength is not a big factor for me, but some folks may want to drink a coke while smoking this one to fight the high strength.
The second third began with dropping off the first dark gray ash which came off easily.  Much like the first third, the second is definitely not lacking in the flavor category!  My smoke had flavors of charred oak, coffee, earth, and pepper while still keeping me floored with the spicy finish.  Take some time between puffs to let the cigar cool back down in order to prevent it from turning bitter on you.
The final third is beginning at an hour into the smoke time.  That is unheard of for such a small cigar.  The sweet flavor comes back with coffee, chocolate, hazelnut, and pepper.  Of course it still has that spicy finish.   It smoked great all the way to the nub.  What a cigar!

Overall:
The Camacho Triple Maduro gives you a full body, full strength, and full flavor smoking experience.  They are a little higher on the price scale than most, but they are well worth the purchase.  In my experience, Camacho’s cigars are a little rough around the edges.  What do I mean?  The burn is never perfectly even (still never requires a burn correction) and the flavors transition often.  In my opinion, these can be very good things.  You can smoke three of them (like I did) and have a slightly different experience each time.  I highly recommend giving these a try if you can stomach full strength cigars.  The samples that I smoked were generously gifted by BnB Tobacco, and they have boxes of them for over $50 cheaper than anywhere else that I could find.  Enjoy and happy smokes!
