Brioso Natural – Cigar Review

Brioso Cigar 2
Up for review is the Brioso Natural cigar.  It is billed as a value choice for an everyday smoke.  It has a nice looking wrapper with a sweet hay smell to it and the draw is good after cutting.  Once lit up, it starts very earthy with a floral note and some spice on the finish.  Later on we got a black coffee and pronounced sweet flavor.  Overall, the flavor was consistent with one transition, but lacked a bit in complexity.  We think it’s a solid cigar to light up while grilling, but won’t knock your socks off.  It’s hard to pass up at this price!

Brioso Cigar 3
7:40 PM
StraightUpCigars: This Brioso is mild smelling with a sweet cold draw. Nice draw after a shallow cut.
7:42 PM
StraightUpCigars: I looked them up and they’re produced by General. Singles are only $3 to $4 online – super affordable.
7:42 PM
Terry1: Mine is drawing well. I thought it would be tight after noticing how much tobacco is packed into this cigar. Getting a sweet hay on the cold draw.
7:48 PM
IamDarren: Ok, I’m alive. Got the BrioSo clipped. Medium brown, leathery wrapper. Nice easy draw. Sweet grass with a pinch of cedar.
7:48 PM
StraightUpCigars: Nice, lighting it up!
7:49 PM
IamDarren: lets torch this sucker!
7:49 PM
Terry1: Found a description for the Brioso. I think they mentioned every major growing region. Sounds like an interesting blend. Lighting up!
7:52 PM
IamDarren: sweet hay, very floral. Little earth and spice in there as well. Nice start.
7:53 PM
StraightUpCigars: Mine has a floral flavor as well. Pretty mild start, earth, floral, with a hint of spice.
7:56 PM
Terry1: Agree with the sweet hay, floral, the mild spice and earth. I’m also getting a black coffee note. Mild but good start.
7:58 PM
StraightUpCigars: Good smoke production, but then again a 1lb cigar should produce a lot of smoke
7:58 PM
IamDarren: yeah, I’m getting that black coffee more and more on the finish
7:59 PM
IamDarren: mine has decent smoke production, however I have seen coronas with more…
8:02 PM
IamDarren: so far its a tasty medium bodied stick. Hopefully we get one or two flavor transitions and it will be a winner at that price point.
8:02 PM
IamDarren: looks like you can get this one in a natural or maduro wrapper
8:04 PM
StraightUpCigars: Yeah, I like it so far. Taking on a caramel sweetness.
8:04 PM
Terry1: I’m liking the aroma from the cigar. Burn line is getting a little wavy.
8:10 PM
StraightUpCigars: Went to Corona Cigar Co in Orlando on my trip. Pretty impressive place with a massive selection. I’m going to miss next week’s too, will be in Philly. I think I’ll stop in at CI if I get a chance.
8:11 PM
IamDarren: sweet, take some pics
8:11 PM
StraightUpCigars: Good call, will do.
8:12 PM
Terry1: I’d like to see CI’s operation. I’ll bet that is huge beyond belief.
8:12 PM
IamDarren: I think they have a regular cigar shop and lounge and then they have a giant warehouse where they store and ship cigars.
8:13 PM
StraightUpCigars: I’ll put on a smiley face mask and sneak in there
8:14 PM
IamDarren: lol, take pics when you do
8:15 PM
Terry1: Cigar seems to be getting sweeter. Still burning fine.
8:15 PM
IamDarren: boss said I need to pick up a palate of those Liga Privadas
8:16 PM
StraightUpCigars: Good luck, I think everyone and their mother would like to.
8:17 PM
IamDarren: well maybe you could score some of those CI smiley T-shirts
8:17 PM
StraightUpCigars: What size?
8:18 PM
IamDarren: Large for me please
8:18 PM
StraightUpCigars: You’re a L too, right Terry?
8:18 PM
IamDarren: I’m at the halfway point. Mine actually seems to be picking up more of the earth and coffee flavor now. Finish is getting longer.
8:19 PM
Terry1: Yes I am.
8:21 PM
StraightUpCigars: I agree, mine is getting medium body and packing some flavor. Getting a lingering spicy finish now.
8:28 PM
StraightUpCigars: My wrapper leaf has split near the burn, but it’s still smoking all right.
8:33 PM
Terry1: Getting closer to the final third. Nothing new to report. Same flavors, sweetness, earth, mild floral, mild spice and some black coffee on the finish. It’s smoking good and consistent.
8:37 PM
StraightUpCigars: Yeah, this one definitely has consistency down pat, it
8:39 PM
IamDarren: going into the final third, mine is picking up a little strength. might also be heating up a bit.
8:40 PM
Terry1: Mine is getting hot too. I’ve been trying to slow down the puffing. I’m feeling a bit of strength now which I didn’t expect.
8:44 PM
StraightUpCigars: This thing is just so massive, not a fan of this vitola. That heat has caused my wrapper to burst and partially unravel.
8:45 PM
IamDarren: wish they had more sizes. Looks like its this or a 6×52, which might be better.

8:47 PM
IamDarren: what women do on the internet these days
8:50 PM
IamDarren: mine is getting dry and loosing the sweetness. Mostly earth and coffee now with a bit of char. Less than an inch left.
8:50 PM
StraightUpCigars: Lol! Entrepreneurs
8:51 PM
IamDarren: lol, right
8:52 PM
Terry1: That was a nice diversion. Mine is getting dry too. Lost the sweetness.
8:53 PM
Terry1: The heat may have killed off the sweetness I was getting.
8:54 PM
StraightUpCigars: Mine is ending with construction problems, which is a shame. Has been otherwise good.
8:55 PM
IamDarren: mine burned well and didn’t have any construction problems but I was hoping for a bit more complexity.
8:55 PM
Terry1: That’s too bad your wrapper split. Mine has been performing well.
8:56 PM
IamDarren: i can rate, moved inside.
8:56 PM
Terry1: I’ll have to keep my eyes open when I travel and see if I can find the maduro version. Something I’d like to try after smoking the natural.
8:57 PM
StraightUpCigars: Ok, ratings coming in a minute
8:57 PM
Terry1: I can rate.
8:59 PM
IamDarren: Flavor and Taste: 15/20
9:00 PM
StraightUpCigars: Overall, I liked the consistent flavors, but construction issues and lack of transition let me down. This is still a good value, and I have a feeling I’d really like a smaller vitola.
9:00 PM
Terry1: Overall a good cigar for budget minded smokers. Liked the middle third the best.
9:01 PM
IamDarren: i would like to pick up a 6×52 maduro and give it a shot
