A. Fernandez Signature Series – Cigar Review

A. Fernandez Signature Series Robusto Review

I received this cigar from Darren in a trade a while back, and it is time to put it on the chopping block.

After some inspection I am amazed at how  nice the wrapper is… it is one of the nicest I have seen.  This one is a chocolate brown Habano with only very small veins.

The smell is a fantastic mix of spices and pepper w/ some type of floral.  I am just loving it!

It is very firmly packed, but not heavy in the hand.  I chose to punch it and I am glad that I did.   The draw is a bit loose even with a punch.  This should produce ample smoke…

After lighting it up I was rushed with strong pepper flavors and very full bodied smoke.  As the cigar progressed it became very complex.  Earthy pepper with a spicy cedar finish was the main flavors it produced, but many others showed their  face as I continued to smoke.  These other flavors ran the gammit from coffee to honey and jasmine.

The light gray ash was surprisingly a tad loose, but the burn was perfectly even the entire time.  The signature series finished off just the same way it started, with lots  of  intense pepper flavor and full bodied smoke.

I cannot stress enough how complex the flavor profile was on this cigar.  I was pleasantly surprised with every drag I took.  This is supposedly A.J. Fernandez’s first cigar he produced… this guy is a natural.  I have been impressed by several of his cigars in the past, but this takes the cake as far as complexity goes.  I was thoroughly impressed with this cigar, especially because it does not get a lot of media attention.  If you like full bodied and complex cigars, please do yourself  a favor and give this one a shot!
